Whatever it takes!

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Well I am slowly seeing improvement in my time orginisation skills, and trying to focus on matters of priority.

I spoke with Geoff our company’s accountant, and he has given me insight in what needs to be done to take this business to the next level. Some simple advise can change your whole perspective of what needs to be done. I have a mammoth mission at hand, I am not even sure how to tackle it, but I will find some good mentors. I do like the challenge of going through unchartered waters, and I still need to tie a few loose ends and see how it goes, however I do have a very positive outlook.

I also have plans to catch up with a friend this week that I haven’t seen in a long time. I will find a way to get down to his place, and I’m sure he can also give me the latest demonstration of John Petrucci’s greatness.

I passed my aviation medical today — so in less than 11 days, I finally get to go solo. It has been delayed and delayed, but now I can see it becoming reality. I can’t wait!

Phillbo the Corporate Executive

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

Well that title is dodge, but hey, I had to say it.

Today I went shopping with Gill. I got suited up, and now I have a nice wardrobe to wear on my overseas business trips. I just appreciate the new clothes I have been given. That’s right, my employer bought them for me. So I am forever grateful for their generosity. Dressed up, I think I will look like a corporate executive….ha!

I am going to Singapore and then straight onto Hong Kong. I am taking the ccTLD world head on. I love the opportunity I’ve been given, and I will put all my effort into making this trip a success.

I also hope to get myself heavily involved in the Hong Kong culture, and attend a “Yum Cha”. I may also do the unthinkable, and go shopping. Hong Kong is shopping central, and the people of Hong Kong are mad shoppers.

I may have to try and get a window seat between Singapore and Hong Kong, as I’ve heard their air port approach is something awesome. I plan to do some GFPT study on the trip to and from Australia. I think going in a big Boeing will inspire me to get through my aviation study in a much faster time. The excitement is creeping up on me, it is a reality.

I sure hope Claudia and Rob have a great time too.

Stupid People

Tuesday, February 20th, 2007

Well you think some people are smart, and others, are at the category of genius, but one thing is for certain, some people that I would consider to be a genius have no common sense. They way they live only confirms this. Is that an oxymoron to even think they are a genius?

I have never seen such defiance in two brothers, and they are headed on a path of destruction. I’ve heared threats, lies, and more threats. Quite entertaining really, too bad that we can’t deport them both, one of them got himself naturlised.

Due to pending criminal charges, and possibly civil claims to follow, I cannot devluge specific details, but I won’t be surprised if the newspapers have a field day sometime soon. I am interested to see how justice will run its course.

I can’t believe why someone would go to great lengths to be so defiant, especially when they’re now stretching the law of the land, and the “law” of common sense.

Even the local police are trying to side step this issue.

One brother is likely to face a criminal charges, and risk what is most important to him. The other brother is carrying on like a chicken with his head cut off. He has “pressed” charges that will never stand up in court; as there were way too many witnesses. I can’t wait to see the evidence he presents. If he remains defiant, he will risk loosing everything he owns, as a civil claim looks very likely now.

Now can anyone suggest a civilised a legal way to evict two squatters? Is Big Brother for hire? I wonder if the VU Nut Sack has the immigration department’s number on speed dial still?

But needless to say, I can!

The last month has been a strange one. I’ve learned heaps in my job role and loved it. I have this desire to learn even more too. I am feeling so alive again, and not just living for continued existance.

I had to face some personal obstacles, which affected my confidence, and my well being. I still need to face other obstacles head on too, as they have been screwing me up spiritually. But I know I must persevere, and boldly face them.

I had the displeasure of living with a supernatural presence within my house, but now it is gone for good. This presence which was either a ghost or spirit or something, and it made me go almost insane, as the noise was mind boggling, and even my neighour complained about it, although he thought it was coming from the neighour on the other side of the fence.

I invited my friends to cover over to hear it for themselves; they all declined. They told me to move house in a hurry, but I have a lease on this place, so its mine to stay in. Squatters are not welcome. It had to go and not me.

I truly believe this experience has made me grow spiritually in my relationship with God.

I have been making positiive changes in my life, and some of them have been very hard, but I think it is necessary to persevere with these changes.

I also believe I am blessed to be with such a great team of people at work. They have all been a great support to me over the last month, and I can honestly say that I love them all. I’ve never had this in any other job.

My own mother has been fantastic, and I simply thank God for removing this nuisance from my house. I’ve had blissful sleep for the last 10 days — except for the two nights where I had to baby sit some servers.

All I can say is be careful what you ask for, you may get it sooner than expected.

A loooooooooong week!

Friday, February 16th, 2007

Well this week has been one of the busiest on record for me. But it has a nice ring to it still.

Last week I was on the hacker hunt, and got some nice firewall rules in place protecting the Windows production server.

Two nights ago, one of our unsecured UNIX boxes got a hammering by a now known person running a torrent server and distributing porn — this flooded our local network, and it was duly unplugged. I Booted into the server from console, and reset root password, to find out who it was.

I am not at liberty to say anything more, as criminal charges look likely.

But none the less. I’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting for my Pilot’s license and ASIC security pass. I applied for both, however without my license, I cannot fly solo.

I rang up CASA. I begged ‘em for my license. They sent me a certified photocopy, and now I need to visit a doctor for a medical, and get down to the airport for my final briefing, and go for a test run, and then take the plane up myself. It is only a matter of days.

I will now need to find time to study my GFPT. I have a few international flights on the agenda, I may study whilst flying :)

Also apologies to Vanuatu’s guitar string mega-breaker, I know its your surround system, but you choose to remain anonymous on my blog at your request.
