Back on days

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

Well I am back on the days for the time being. My other work committments have been temporarily put on hold, but hopefully I will get some time to commit to them shortly.

Drew returns to the office next Monday, and his presence will be most welcome. I know way too much about Hong Kong ccTLDs (domain names), however looks like I’ve finally finalised the application process. What next? BR (Brazil) or MX (Mexico)? I will ponder that next week.

I’ve got to customise a Plesk Server now… can’t wait. Everything at work is starting to look like its coming together. I am on the verge of something that is potentially earth shattering in the technologies availiable to the Internet. I can’t really say much, but hey… don’t be surprised if you see a few press releases from me on web sites all over the place.

On a more strange note, I read in the newspaper that the worlds longest joint attempt failed miserably. Weird bunch of people me thinks:

Read the Full Story if you like. I just don’t understand why they didn’t take the extra effort to try rolling the joint in Holland. They may *have* acquired their ultimate goal. Oh well.

The Bachelor

Well for the first time ever, I have my very own place.

I moved from Bundoora to Chris’ place in Frankston. It was a beach house with a nice view too. However I am now 30, and it is about time I got a place of my own.

It took me a few weeks to get my own two bed room unit. It is pretty modern, I have a backyard, car port, and a garden shed. I’ve gone from cable to ADSL now, but it was only a small sacrifice. I’ve been here since July 1, and I’m loving it.

I’ve been slowly unpacking stuff as needed, however some things have beeb left well overdue. The room of shredd (also known as my mini-office/study) has been partly set up.

After stuffing around with various wireless network configurations involving an ADSL Modem/router, a wireless access point/router, and a wireless NIC, I have decided to disable all routing functions of the wireless access point. The network has been disabled ever since.

Originally I tried a two router configuration, it worked OK, but crashed occasionally. I then bridged wirless router to modem, and let the wireless access point operate the PPP connection, but it shit iself more often. So now the wireless access point has been re-delegated to a network switch/wireless access point, and it is running supreme. Got my VOIP phone connected where my telephone is, so all looks good. Enough ranting…. I better get my room of shredd set up. The speakers are now connected, so all is good.

I love my surround sound set up the lounge room, and I’ve finally bought everything to have a fully stocked kitchen and laundry, maybe with the exception of a peeler. But I will have to remember to buy one on my next visit to the supermarket.
