Finally a day off….well almost

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

For the past month, I’ve been working long long hours. Some weeks up to 75+ hours, and working throughout the night. I was a part of the .EU launch, and have been responsible for overseeing thousands of .EU domain names being registered.

I’ve discovered that I am learning more and more, and it has been exciting. Hacking up band aid fixes in SQL, because the registry business is forever changing, and the registry must go on. I’ve also been in the processing of meeting business contacts (looking at the marketing side of things), and training new staff in registry support roles. It has been a challenge, although I’ve been quite content in knowing that I’ve been learning heaps. My forgotten UNIX skills are coming back with avegence too. Loving it. I’ve also had to find time to service my regular clients, however all should fit into place nicely.

With my overload of work, and I have noticed that I have become somewhat burnt out in a hurry, it is decided that I will go to Vanuatu for a little under two weeks. May 15 is the day I jump in a jet, and I sure can’t wait to get over there. At the moment, the temperature is around 28 degress, and I am sure thoses beaches will welcome me. I am looking forward for a nice holiday, and catching up with my mate John. He is working over there, but his heart is in his hometown. But I am sure he will put up with me. I may see if I can bring my guitar with me (if weight allowance of 20kg fits in).

Anyway… it has been long overdue since I posted, however I must remember to pack my digital camera.
