A few days of celebrations….

Tuesday, December 20th, 2005

Well my weekend began on Friday… visited pubs, had a get together with the Telstra boys… it was all good. Had a BBQ with the Instra crew, and much beer was consumed by all.

and I jammed on guitar, I even sang a few tunes… and had a relaxing Saturday… On Sunday I had Christmas luch with my uncles and auntes, and my cousin Scott. My cousin Kathy and her two young children made an appearance later on.. and then I went back to my folks place.

We celebrated my birthday.. we had a BBQ, and I was most impressed with my present from my folks.. a sensational swag. It has a full hood, dual layer, and and mosquito proof net.. so now I can camp out anywhere, anytime… rumor has it I am getting a new sleeping bag for Christmas too.

Today I woke up, and realised I am finally 30. I’ve made this milestone somehow.. I hoped to be out of Telstra before I turned 30, but it looks like I will be 30 and 3 days old when I leave. But it isn’t too bad.. I’ve made it!

I have a big year planned ahead of me.. I intend to see U2 twice (in Melbourne and Adelaide), play tennis in Myrtleford (and try out my swag), possibly see the Hard Core in Vanuatu, and move house — again!! I must admit, I love my new job, and being able to work from home has its benefits, but it is also a big lesson in discipline; its too easy to get distracted. I am looking forward to Christmas for the first time in several years.

I spoke to my friend Ebony last night (who celebrates the same birthday as me), and she is going really well. I was very pleased to here that, and she will be moving to Bendigo pretty soon. I think it will be a nice place to bring up her family, and I wish her all the best.

I’ve got to re-organise my mobile phone too… some numbers aren’t storing in the phone book… but I am sure I will work it out sooner or later. Now all I need to do is make sure I get my book keeping up to date at all times, as I am officially working for myself full time. Its a big risk, but I think if I discipline myself.. I will definately see the reward of it.

I have one more thing planned, Miles knows what it is.. so I may just be bold and go ahead with it. I think its time I pursued this opportunity, as it may simply disappear before my eyes. Will keep you posted if I get a positive outcome! BTW, it has nothing to do with his piano playing neighbour either :P

Sad but liberating day

Today I am handing in my resignation, to my job of seven years. I must admit, I have worked there part time for the past two and a half years, however all things must come to an end. This job has had some good times, but mostly, more often than not, the work place has left a sour taste in my mouth.

I will miss several good friends, but I am definately pleased to announce that I am heading out that door. I am late for work this morning, by at least two hours… however it took me ages to write up a resignation letter.

After wasting much time, I decided to do the ultimate slack thing and blatantly plagurised someone elses.

I decided to throw away the security blanket, and I am now officialy working for myself full time. I think the road ahead will be very hard, but as long as I persist at it, I think I will see the rewards of hard work too.

It has been a while!

Well I never knew life could get so busy, especially when I am turning 30 in a few weeks time.

I’ve been flat chat with solde trading working, and socialising a little.

Today, I scored U2 tickets. Melbourne sold out in record time, however I decided to make an executive decision and go to Adelaide with a few of my friends. Chances are a second show will be happening in Melbourne, however I don’t have the time to stand a queue for another day in the attempt of possibly getting a ticket. As the tickermaster web site was hammered, buying tickets online was near impossible. But I am sure the Adelaide concert will rock, and I might catch up with Doug.

Last night, my cousin Andrew and I went to Irish Murphys, and got our axes out, and strummed a few tunes with a crowd of other musicians. Many were happy to sing along. A good night had by all, and I am damn impressed that Andrew managed to get 4 pints into him.

I spent a hit and miss night with Enzo (Friday night) and (name witheld by request)… wear Enzo became a spitting image of Eddie Van Halen, He did a supreme job on stage, however the rock god stardom has got to him I think. I think its time he got into a real band and brought back the classic glam rock of the 80s.

In a heart breaking tennis grand final, my team lost the final by one game. We won by sets, but lost by games. One more game would have forced a draw, and an overall victory. A sad day, and much beer was consumed afterwards.

I can see myself resigning myself from Telstra pretty soon. I just need to make sure I keep motivated with my new job, as I simply love the new challenges it offers. Maybe I should become a Doctor of DNS. Anyway.. this is a very summaries version of the previous weeks events.

To be honest, I almost gave up on blogging, however my reason to blog is for me, so I can reflect back on what I have done or shouldn’t have done. Anyway.. signing off.
