What is “Beer Baziled”?

Thursday, July 28th, 2005

Well last night, I turned up to my tennis club. The atmosphere was great, the social gathering was relaxing, and the comptetition was played in a pleasant friendly manner. It was a typical social night in Hadfield.

As time went by, people left one by one, two by two, and only a few of us were left. We appreciated beer, and we then appreciated some more. We appreciated beer, until half past four. Then I realised, it was very late, if I slept in today, my employer would seal my fate.

So I stayed awake, and conversed with Basil. We drank three coffees, and wide awake I became. At six thirty, we went our own way.

I got home, took a shower, got dressed, ate breakfast, and took the train into work. So today will probably be terrible, but what can I expect? One thing is for certain; when I get home, I shall appreciate some sleep.

Google Maps Vs MSN Maps

Wednesday, July 27th, 2005

Well I remember many moons ago, when the Microsoft Terra Server was something that was pretty cool… the pictures were in grey scale, but I thought the pictures were pretty well detailed. That was long ago, back in the days when many of us were using Netscaoe Navigator Version 1.1N.

But now it appears that Microsoft are now directly competing with Google Earth.

MSN Virtual Earth

Google Earth

Make the comparison yourself if you like. I found Google Map Images to be more detailed, however finding a specific location was easier on the MSN version. I haven’t tested MSN on Australia yet… however due to cloud coverage, I missed out on seeing my house on Google Earth. I managed to find my aunte’s place in the USA quite easily with MSN, but not with Google. But now I think I could find it!

Head aches

Wednesday, July 27th, 2005

I am still struggling to focus on the text on computer monitor, and it causing annoying head aches, however everything else is much clearer with my new glasses.

My local Optomertrist wants me to come in again for another assessment. So tommorrow I shall come in for another check up. I am beginning to wonder if my new lenses will be even thicker. I didn’t realise how blurred my world has been, however hopefully I will get it fixed. I may need to use the Windows magnifier glass for the time being :P

Time for bed, as I intend to work overtime when I wake up. I’ve almost finalised my book keeping for my BAS statement, which is due in two days time.

Sleepy Monday

Tuesday, July 26th, 2005

Today I volunteered for overtime, and managed to make a late start to work (4pm), however it was for a good cause. I had a phone interview for a new job, and they emailed me a pile of questionaries to fill in, however I’m sure I will get through it all. It is quite amazing how much paper work you need to go through; just to apply for a job with your local council. But hopefully they will give me another call soon.

On a are more pleasing note, work went pretty quick today (4 hours), however I was a bit annoyed that my train service failed to exist on the way home. It was replaced by a bus service, that follows the train line at a very slow pace. Hence, I took the other painful option of a slow tram ride home. I am not sure which form of public transport is the lesser of the two evils, however trains in both directions should be operating tommorrow. I just need to make sure I get out of work at an earlier time.

Domestic Day

Sunday, July 24th, 2005

Today will be full of domestic duties, including washing last night’s dishes, mowing, and doing some gardening.. but I am sure I will find it pretty relaxing.

Last night was rather sad, as I had clashing events. I missed out on the Immortal’s 30th Birthday, so I wish him well.

I’ve realised I need to organise my own time much better also. I will definately have to work on this.

I must admit, it was great catching up with a few people I hadn’t seen in a long time, and it was good to see many people from the Hadfield Tennis Club. My fingers are so sore from playing guitar during the early hours of the morning.

Sim City 2000

Wednesday, July 20th, 2005

Well after hunting down an old game archive, I managed to find the classic Sim City 2000 (I even scored the Windows 95 version)… I’ve wasted like over 15 hours on it in the last week.. and time is precious. So I think I have enjoyed my blast from the past, and will get back to the real world.

I forgot my work keys, and I think that no one recognised me with my newly styled “Romper Stomper” hair cut. Some people were reluctant to let me in the building, even though I consider myself mostly harmless. But I am sure that I potentially look pretty scary at the moment, well to strangers I do anyway.

But tommorrow my vision should improve, as I was told today that my glasses are ready to pick up. I can’t wait.. as I’ve got a lot of reading to do.

I’m an old man!

Sunday, July 17th, 2005

Well yesterday, I finally got my eyes assessed, and have discovered that my night vision, and my ability to read text on the TV or computer monitor is caused by my slowly deteriorating eye sight.

Come Wednesday, I will acquire my first pair of prescription glasses. Hopefully this should make life easier… well when it comes to reading and driving anyway.

I think I’ve noticed my eye site slowly getting worse over the past year, but I didn’t think it was that bad… but the truth sometimes hurt. According to the Optomertrist, I should have had them years ago. I now have a stigma in my eyes… where the eye balls have re-shaped slightly due to eye strain…hmmm.. doesn’t sound to good, however I hope it isn’t too bad either.

I think it may take a while to get used to ‘em, but I am looking forward to reading more now, and getting less frustrated with reading.

I think playing tennis with glasses will be the hardest part of this adjustment, however hopefully I get used to it in record time. I also hope the lenses don’t fog up all the time whilst playing.

I am certain you can never be content buying frames for glasses, as they all look so foreign on my own face. But I am sure that pretty soon it will become second nature.

well a week went by…

Monday, July 11th, 2005

My folks came over yesterday, and Dad helped me fix a few problems with my car and lawn mower. I managed to mow the backyard in record time. Dad also helped me with moving some stuff.. so my backyard is almost presentable now. I should get around to taking some photos.. but to think.. a before and after shot probably would have been a better option. But alas, it won’t happen now. All in all… I had a great time just meeting up with them. It has been over a month since last time I saw them.

My house will become even more social, as a few people are moving in, but I am sure the house can handle it.. its rather large.

I intend to do a days overtime in the next week, however as a few cheques have arrived from my own sole trading work, I am not overly stressed about my finances. I’ve begun to get everything organised.. and it sure is one big heavy load that is taken away from my mind. A few loose ends to fix, but all is looking quite well at the moment. I may even re-grow some missing hair from my head.

I spent Saturday night at Stefan and Russ’ place, and Enzo, Stefan, Andrew, and all had a pretty good night. We had a BBQ at 3am… quite odd really, as the meat was lit up by faint candles.. but I am sure most of it was cooked quite well, and the steaks were pretty much over cooked. But I loved it none the less. I did most of the cooking.. but there really wasn’t too much work involved in it. I am about to go to bed… as work is calling my name.. so I need an early start.

Upgrading blog

Monday, July 11th, 2005

Well tonight I finally upgrade my blog code, however in the process I’ve managed to destroy a few hacks I made on the previous code. I will need to hack the date/time settings again, however everything else should work as per normal; well I hope so anyway. The back end does look quite different. I just hope these new counter measures assist with the prevention of getting blog spammed.

Spam Prevention

Wednesday, July 6th, 2005

Due to increased spam comments, I’ve enabled comment moderation. This prevents spammers (and unfortunately legitimate posters) from making immediate public comments on this site. I will be shortly trialling a new comment script, however several attempts of installing them have been futile. When I get a bit more time, I will give it more attention.
