The Fridge just went on the blink!

Wednesday, March 30th, 2005

The Fridge in my kitchen is making a very unpleasant noise, and the contents inside a warming up…. hmmm… I am not happy, especially as my frozen goods will probably not survive, but hey… I am still going to Warnambool.

I now have a litre of milk and a litre of Orange Juice to consume… and that shall be called breakfast.

The Traveller

Well after a 300km trip home today, I am about to go on 600km round trip to Warnambool to see my cousin Al. I can taste that 1kg stump rump now. Yum!

I’m Back

Tuesday, March 29th, 2005

Well the last four days have been fantastic. I attempted to blog via WAP, however for some reason, it didn’t work. Maybe next time I will get it happening.

Thursday night involved setting up camp, setting up the camp fire, and drinking a little too much beer. But all was good.

On Friday, I made it to the second round in D Grade Singles, and then I was knocked out in convincing fashion. I lost 2-8. This gave me valuable time to socialise with other members of my camp, and our tennis nut neighbours. We then had a few drinks by the camp fire, played a few card games, and retired to bed by 4am.

On Saturday the Doubles event began. My partner Bill (Paul and Josh’s Dad) had a very strained armed, however we managed to pull off a victory in a tie breaker. I played at my absolute best, so I was very impressed with that effort. Our club went out to a pub in Myrtleford for a counter meal, and we then retreated back to the camp fire for a few more drinks. I went to bed at 4am again, and slept in until 9am.

On Sunday Bill and I played another doubles match, but we lost that 5-8. I didn’t play too well, and Bill’s arm strain wasn’t helping the flow of game play. I had to help him bandage his arm half way through the set. But it was a valiant effort none the less.

Kellie and I also made our Grand Entrace to the Mixed Doubles event. Kellie is only a beginner, and the competition was a little strong for her, but she played very well. I was impressed with her on court performance. We lost 3-8 in our opening match, and I managed to hold three services games. A few of us went out for Chinese dinner, and once again, we retired back to the camp fire until we were interrupted by a little rain. I managed to move most camping gear under cover during this time. Once the rain stopped, the camp fire area was the circle of socialising. Had an early night, and went to bed at 2.30am.

Today (being Easter Monday) Kellie and I played our second mixed doubles match, and we lost that rather badly. I think I was too tired to play competitively, but hey.. I still loved it. We (being Paul and Kellie & myself) headed down to Melbourne early in the afternoon, and I am now finally home. I am going to love sleeping in my own bed tonight.

Unfortunately I forgot to pack my digital camera, but there is always next year. I am going back next year, that is for certain. The country town, the grass courts, the camp fires, even the local bakery made the whole long weekend worth while. The pefect sunny and hot weather, and the freezing cold nights was a major contrast in temperature, but I loved it none the less. Time I had an early night.

Going, going, gone!…

Friday, March 25th, 2005

Well my road trip to Myrtleford begins any minute now, so I must sign off. I am not sure if there is Internet access in this country town, so don’t be surprised if I don’t post for a couple of days. The anticipation is fantastic, I’ve packed everything I need. Well I hope so anyway.

Can’t think of a title

Thursday, March 24th, 2005

Last night I was at Trickey’s place, and we geeked on. We made a detour via Geelong Hospital to visit his Grandmother who had a recent health scare, but I think she looks OK now. We made some progress on our Ticket management system, however we’ve still got a few time zone issues to fix. It is the bane of using a server far away from home, but I’m sure we’ll find some rackspace closer to home shortly. Preferably in the same time zone. But for the time being, I am sure I can find a suitable solution. Well I hope so anyway.

I begin my pilgrimage to Myrtleford tommorrow, and it looks like I am car pooling with Paul. I forgot to pick up my camping gear from Geelong, but I am sure I can organise something. I ain’t too worried if I have to sleep on the ground inside a tent. I’ve slept in worse conditions before when I trekked across the Nalabor many years ago.

Mini-Splurge

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2005

Well my dream did not eventuate into reality. I turned up to the Church today, and found out the UPS had failed.. so I think I will book the UPS in for a long overdue service. Also did a secondary system backup; just incase.

I also did some work at the Italian Catholic Charismatic Renewal Centre today, and installed some new hardware and anti-virus stuff. I even got their sound happening (got them an amp and speakers) so they can listen to Italian DVDs on their PC. Pretty easy stuff.. but hey it was a productive day none the less. I briefly watched a DVD of theirs that had Priest’s sermon in Italian, but being an ammeteur DVD transfer, there was no Enlgish audio track on the DVD, so I lost interest in a hurry.

Anna made a sensational lunch, and I then headed back to my own realm where I helped Josh (my housemate) with his computer hardware shopping. We went out for dinner at Fat Jacks, well Hungry Jacks that is…. it was OK I guess, I just have to make sure I don’t make a habit of doing that too often.

I also did a mini-splurge today and got myself a half decent amp and speakers for my notebook computer. So now I can appreciate mp3s in all their glory.

PS. I forgot to call my Dad, so I hope he isn’t too unimpressed with me. However I am sure he would have called if he needed me :)

Thanks to Lance

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2005

My cousin Lance has provided me with a picutre of my other dog. Her ame is Jess. She is very lazy, but she loves to jump in the back of the ute — so she must be an Aussie Dog.

I am not sure what time this picture was taken, however Lance has been a part time resident at my folks place in the past, so I’m sure he could tell us.

Had to ban a person’s IP address today for continally spamming my comments field within my blog. Oh well… I can’t understand why people spam.

Work on holidays!

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2005

Well I found out yesterday that the computer systems at the Catholic Church aren’t working. Other than what I’ve just stated, I have no idea what exactly is happening. I had this dream last night that the RAID array on the server failed, and I sure hope that this isn’t the case. Anyway.. I better get going, as time is very precious right now. You never know, it may be a 5 minutes job too… but I will try not assuming anything at this stage; simply because my assumptions involving time are usually under estimated or over estimated.

If all goes well time wise, I will be working with my Dad in the afternoon doing some data cabling at a school in the region of Taylors Lakes. I’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

Hadfield Club Champs

Monday, March 21st, 2005

Well, as expected, I didn’t get past the first round in the tournament, but I had a fun day. I also lost in the semi-final of the Plait event also. I think it was almost a culture shock running in a hot, sunny day at 10am in the morning. My body feels drained, and worse for wear right now. I think I may be a little sunburnt too. I will find out tommorrow I guess.

Kelsie my dog!

Sunday, March 20th, 2005

I was searching for other pictures on my hard disk, and found a picture of Kelsie, my little kelpie.

This is my bad attempt at taking her photo.

She is very affectionate, and has a crazy attitude to everything that makes a potentially irritating sound. Unfortunately my other dog Jess, does not like to pose for photographs.
