Who needs a title?

Tuesday, July 27th, 2004

Well, I might as well post something; even just to remind myself what has happened over the past few days…

I caught up with Bard, a Tasmanian guitar maestro, on Friday, and he’s attempted to knock some common sense into me. I feel so much more relaxed after drinking scotch with this fellow. Earlier on during that day, I hauled all brand new computer equipment and software from Geelong to Melbourne for Our Lady Help Of Chrisitians, Brunswick East. I am currently sub-contacting to them, and I must admit, they’re pretty cool people to work for too. I am waiting for a few holes to be drilled into the wood work of their brand spanking new cabinents before I start rolling out the new systems on the new network…. I can’t wait to get my geek hands working :P

Saturday involved waking up late, going to Bob for Telstra, and going home late to make up time. An uneventful day, but I need to eat. So I turned up.

On Sunday, I got up early and went to Church. I haven’t gone to my Dad’s church in a long while, and I must say, it has changed quite a bit. There is still some of the old folk, however there also heaps of new faces that I didn’t even recognise. It was pretty cool catching up with a few people I haven’t seen in ages and ages. I also headed down the Bellarine Penninsula to visit Hard Core & Rubber Man, aka as John and Dennis. Their nick names have different origins, but thats another story.

Now comes Today. Mum woke me up, and enticed me out of bed with a promise of a Counter Meal. Had crumbed whiting, and it was pretty damn nice, but rather small for my appetite. But I think I am hungry again, so I should wait and wait and wait until dinner arrives. I don’t want to develop worse eating habits.

I better sign off now, as I’ve got to do a domestic computer support job shortly.

Chilling out

Thursday, July 22nd, 2004

Well the title pretty much says it all. I’ve been chilling out big time.

Until yesterday, I ran on energy I never knew I had. Yesterday, time stood still for me, as I acqired 14 hours of valuable sleep. A much needed rest after being up pretty much of the previous three days.

But all is well, and now I am in the slow process of reconciliating my business bank account. Its a total mess, but the BAS statement is due in 7 days, so I better get cracking.

My friend Dennis is playing some tune by a Perfect Circle on the guitar. I do hope one day that he loarns to shredd, and love it. I sure do and my guitar gets a good work out everytime I do.

I ate my first Tia Maria Tim Tam tonight, and I must say they ain’t bad. However to get drunk on them, you’d need to eat around 200 of them. I’m sure that amount would make anyone type two diabetic overnight. So I better not approach Guinness Book of records for the amount of Tim Tams I can eat in one sitting.

Gmail is here

Friday, July 16th, 2004

Ha… I love it. I love it lots.

I got sent an invite for Gmail from my mate Benjamin. Benjamin is the kind of bloke who will be a board member of the ICC in a couple of years… but thats another story. The fact I have some portable storage is cool as.

Did I say it before? Maybe I should say it again…… “i love it”.

Thanks Ben, thanks Google. Sensational stuff. Now I need to determine which email addresses I should forward to Gmail for the time being.

Unloading the junk

Tuesday, July 13th, 2004

Today I gave away a trusty old Server. A Dual Processor Pentium Pro, with a SCSI raid. This machine was huge, it had two power supplies, and worked like a trojan horse. Needless to say, I need to get rid of stuff, and hence, gave up my collectables.

Now I am located at one place, I’ve been using both my Notebook and Desktop PCs. The Desktop got a new NIC yesterday, and hope to upgrade video card within a couple of weeks. Since its BIOS firmware upgrade, it now works with an 80 GIG drive, and so my producitivity has allegdely doubled….. not!

Back on slow dialup, and sharing it with others, has caused my Internet access to be slower than I can possibly bare, but I’m sure I could possibly get used to it. There is no ADSL or Cable in this area, so I may consider applying for ISDN if availiable.

I applied for a job with the Geelong Water board today also, so I hope they consider giving me an interview. I sure could do with a new job. My current job has turned my brain into mush. Anyway.. I am signing off.. I have to be up at 4:30am. :(

Sleepless, Madness, and the unstoppable

Sunday, July 11th, 2004

Last week has forced me to trot on my toes. I have three return trips from Geelong to Melbourne, I’ve worked the past five days averaging 11+ hours, and have also managed to have social time with my friends Paul and Josh.

Last night I crashed at Paul’s place, and managed to squeeze in two hours sleep. The previous night I slept at Josh’s place. Josh, Carla (Josh’s almost wife), and myself saw Shrek 2 at the cinema. Seeing this movie the second time, I indetified close to 50 adult themes within the movie. Most of it would probably go over a child’s head, however some themes probably did go a tad far. Call me a bit old fashioned, however a few things I would like to see changed; maybe some slight alterations to the soundtrack. But regardless of my bitches about the movies, it still say it rules supreme. I’d love to see a cameo from the dragon, especially after Donkey drank the potion, but it wasn’t to be.

I’ve also been working at Telstra (my regular job), Our Lady Help of Christians, and ICCR, and all places currently have enough work to keep me entertained for a while.
I’ve been majorly slack with my BAS statement once again, so its time to get cracking.

My old Pentium II 400Mhz has been given new life as my desktop machine. My notebook PC performance is heaps better, but this trusty old desktop workstation appears to be serving its purpose nicely. I flashed the BIOS, and I can have a hard disk greater than the previous limit of 8.4 Gig. Today I upgraded the IDE Cable, to compliment my newly installed 80 Gig Hard disk. I’m sure this workstation will continue to be reliable.

Anyway, as I have my desk setup, and I’m almost settled in back home, I should be able to post more often. So comments are by all means welcome at all times. Even dodgy comments.

Due to my undisciplined sleeping habits, I must crash now……..ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzZZZZZZZZzzzZZzz

The move is finally complete

Saturday, July 3rd, 2004

Well the move is over. I’ve managed to squeeze pretty much everything I own into a ute, and 1 car (two trips).

I never thought it was possible to fit two desk chairs, a tall fan, bed linen, guitar stand, stereo speakers, two glass table tops, clothes, three guitars, a big amp, my entire DVD collection, a microphone stand, and a spindle of 50 blank DVD-Rs into my car. But somehow I found a way.

I must admit having a longer than usual hatch type of car definately helped the cause, which pretty much sums up the contents of my car for its final pilgrimage. Very crowded indeed. The journey to Geelong was uneasy, as the wind was definately expressing itself down the freeway. I’m happy that I’m home, however I have this sudden urge to find a place to call my own. So the house hunting shall begin.

New Financial Years day

Friday, July 2nd, 2004

Ah… time for a new era.

The moment is upon us, tax time comes soon.
Some of us have it simple, while others have it hard.
We may get a refund, we may need to pay,
is your taxing being collected, on tax years new day?

I must admit, that was very lame indeed. :)

However at this time of the year, I’ve got to get myself back on track. Working out deducations will be a nightmare, and I’ve only got 28 days left until my next BAS statement is due.

I’m most certain I will be visiting an accountant this year — as it is much easier to pay someone else to worry about your tax affairs.

Anyway.. to keep everyone updated. I’ve moved back to Gheringhap for the time being. It is nice and quiet, and the Internet is way slow. I’m planning to move back to Melbourne sometime in August, as Gheringhap has a severe space shortage.
