More pictures of Sydney

Monday, May 31st, 2004

Just a quick update.

Today we went to Sydney Tower, Centrepoint, and also caught up with Jason’s old friend Lisa Chapman.

We also had a very nice breakfast at Circular Quay, which was delcious to the extreme.

At around 8am this morning, we witnessed Australian Idol want-to-bes, all lining up at Darling Harbour. There were over 10,000 people there. As it was my morning stroll, I didn’t have my camera or mobile phone camera handy. I should remember in the future to be prepared, because you’ll never know what you potentially may miss.

Found some good Chinese food, and went with the Pork Manglosa option. It was spicy to the max; I’m sure I will feel the effects tommorow.

Anyway… just added heaps to gallery. It is still disorganised, but hey, there is more stuff to look at.

Quick Picture Update

Sunday, May 30th, 2004

A very disorganised gallery of photos is located here:

http://sydney.phillparker.com/

They are not in any particular order at the moment, nor is there any commentary. Some shots were taken with my trusty digital camera, others were taken with my dodgy Sony Ericsson T610 Digital camera. I currently do not have time to comment, rotate or even explain why some of the pictures were there. However if you see signs with writing, it usually means I am testing zoom on camera, or testing camera under certain light conditions.

Bye for now… I’ve spent way too much money at this Internet Cafe. I better get around to having a life again.

Sydney Saturday

Sunday, May 30th, 2004

Today, we woke up, and just left in the nick of time from our Hotel. If we stayed a minute longer, we would have forfeited our key deposit.

We went on the Indian Curry quest today, and eventually ended up in Newton. We checked out the Opera house on the way, very sunny indeed. Photographs definatly coming soon, however will need to sort them out on my laptop computer.

I think I will have to install a PHP Gallery, because I’ve taken heaps. :)

Anyway, just to whet our apetite over and over again… our meals.

Jason’s Meal consisting of Lamb Korma, Butter Chicken, Bombay lamb, and Garlic Naan.

My Meal consisting of Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, Potato Aloo Masala, and Cheese Naan

Jason suffering curry overdose at Newtown Train Station (Sydney) — priceless!

Back in the Internet Cafe right now… I am sure I will be back here before the night is over.

Friday Night tour of Sydney City

Saturday, May 29th, 2004

Tonight Jason and I hiked for over four hours across Sydney city. We got to see what King’s Cross had to offer, and we were invited into every Strip Club under the sun (or should I say moon). We didn’t go to any of them, and we avoided walking past a few of them a second time as the door people/bouncers were simply arrogant and rude to the extreme. We haven’t found new accomdation in our budget range yet. Hopefully we’ll find something tomorrow.

The place we’re staying at right now appears to be well overly priced for the accomodation they provide. It’s called BIG, and its on Elizabeth St. Even the reception staff kept adding in evil extra costs after we agreed to rent the room for the night. It’s amazing what you’ll settle for when your desperate to stop carrying your bags, and get some much needed sleep.

Sydney, here we come

Saturday, May 29th, 2004

Well… after a rushed wake up call for my friend Jason and myself, we made it to the airport on time. The security was insane! Never in my life have I seen such a paranoid process. I had to empty the entire contents of everything due to a random check. It was pretty funny thinking about it now, but I was almost certain we wouldn’t make our flight on time. I had a splendid view from a plane, but took no pictures, as digital cameras are not allowed to be used on plane.

Didn’t sleep last night, as I don’t trust my ability to wake up on time. Got a bus into the city, and went to a so called Irish Pub for lunch. It was pretty average, but a relief just to sit still. Found a backpacker’s place, and crashed all afternoon. Now tonight, I think its time to paint the town red.

Digital Pictures are coming soon.

We are Triumphant

Friday, May 28th, 2004

I cannot believe it. It hasn’t even sunk in yet, but my team won the Grand Final. After last weeks below average performance, I managed to fire on all cylinders, and win each tennis set tonight. We romped it in, and have now won the Grand Final for our tennis grade. I am very proud of my team mates. A job most definately done well.

I am about to head off to Sydney within the next 2 hours. Doing last minute clothes drying, and packing. However everything is going along as it could be. Haven’t slept, and probably won’t for a while, as I’ve had a big night celebrating. I better re-read my flight intenary now, just to make sure everything is in order.

Not sure where I am staying, but I am taking my notebook with me. Be rest assured, my digital camera is handy. I am almost certain you will think I’ve gone tourism mad.

Now I definately need to get a peppered cob of corn. So “The Rocks”, here I come!

Grand Final Eve

Thursday, May 27th, 2004

Oh well… the day has now come, and I shall attempt to get focused for the forth coming game of Tennis. I think the French Open has inspired me a bit, but I truly hope I don’t choke under pressure. Only time will tell :)

I am also pretty excited about my Sydney trip. I depart Melbourne Friday, and expect to be back late Monday night. Haven’t really planned anything, however I will take it as it comes. One thing is for certain, there is rumor of a brilliant Curry place in the suburb of Newtown, Sydney. If anyone can tell me the name of the placee, it would be very much appreciated. I sure could use a good Indian meal.

Just one of those days

Monday, May 24th, 2004

Today has been slack to the max. I suppose you need one of those days occasionally. I’m simply tired, and pretty much have a “can’t be bothered” attitude.

Hopefully I will be more awake come tommorow. I’ve got tennis practice again, and this Thursday we play in the Grand Final.

Reality TV needs to die soon. Its making me go insane just listening to it in the background. I am sure some people find it addictive, however I am almost certain that this whole concept has to be drastically changed, otherwise the entire TV viewing population will blog instead of watch :) Only time will tell I guess :)

Easy Come, Easy Go

Saturday, May 22nd, 2004

I don’t like to quote myself, however I must admit Murphy was right again. I wrote, and I quote, “My dilema is, go with the replace option, or continue the hunt and find mission. I know for a fact that Murphy’s law will reveal the whereabouts of my wallet once I’ve cancelled all credit cards, etc…”.

Within 2 hours of cancelling all of my cards, my wallet was recovered. Cashless, but hey, all the other stuff was in there. I knew it would happen that way, I just knew…arrrgh! Life must go on.

My team made it into the tennis grand final, no thanks to me though. My performance was below average, and I was a bit too nervous, which resulted in being overly tensed. Hopefully I’ll do heaps better in the Grand Final. Maybe I should drink a bottle of Brooke’s red wine before I even walk onto the tennis court next Thursday.

Dunk it Damn It!

Thursday, May 20th, 2004

Well today, I witnessed my basketball team break their 30 game loosing streak. Too bad I was too sick to play. The bronchitis is still a bit dodge, but the drugs are definately working. Miles also made his return to the court after a 30 week suspension. With players like that you’d think I played in the prison league. Miles played supremely too, however unfortunately not even our 6′8″ Sri Lankan Giant dunked during the game. Maybe if I actually returned to the court, a dunk may occur.

My Tennis semi-final is tommorow night. On paper, my team should romp it in, however you’re only as good as you play on the night. I hope we do OK.

Oh well… I better finish of this bottle of Jacob’s creek Merlot, because I managed to score one of my friends a job bobbing for an ISP. He will soon learn not to be thankful. I think it will only take a couple of weeks.
