all is quiet on new years day

Friday, January 2nd, 2004

Well I stole the first line from a U2 Song, but many other people steal their whole songs, so it ain’t a crime of the century.

The previous night involved a trip to Richmond (Miles and Brookes place), and then to Melbourne City Federation square (to see the Fireworks), and then back to Richmond. Afterwards I fond out there was no inbound public transport to city, I walked, and proceeded to wait for a tram to Brunswick East, but Osley the chump graciously gave me a lift to the house of the John Street Crew.

We partied hard, and we conquerored. I am not sure what we conquerored, but laughs were had by all. Made it home by about 6am, and slept in until about 2pm. No hang over for me… but then again I only had four cans of scotch, and 2 beers over a period of 10 hours. So I am quite happy that I didn’t over indulge :)

In the evening I had a nice social dinnger with John, Bron, Esther, Lois, Ebony, and two other people from Melton (whose name have escaped me at this time of the morning), but the meal was unreal. Had the Turkish Banquet, and you never leave that place unsatisfied. Had a few beers with John and Esther, and then proceeded a road trip back to Geelong via Melton. A very good day all in all.

New Years Eve - 5:30pm

Thursday, January 1st, 2004

Well, it is approaching 6 o’clock, and I still haven’t decided what I am doing for New Years Eve celebrations. I thought back on previous years, and reflecting back on them, I haven’t been too content with any of them in recent years. They usually end up with a big hangovers, feeling left out, or even mild depression.

I know these are self victimising attitudes, and these need to be tackled head on, so this year I don’t care what I do, I just want to have a positive attitude, and embrace the new year. I am not big on New Years resolutions, however I think the inspiration behind it is almost noble. I think we all need to look ahead and stop looking in the past (as I have over previous years)… so I think its time I made a decision; and stick with it.
